Similar problem on the same machine when I ran a command:
0.01s user 18446744073.71s system -2147483648% cpu 0.008 total
(I didn't use the "time" command explicitly, but zsh is configured
to output the time as soon as it is at least 60s).

The bug seems to be fixed in the current Debian 6.0 'squeeze' with the
2.6.32-5-amd64 kernel.
I'm running it on new hardware but with a similar configuration
(luks-crypted raid 5) and couldn't reproduce the described problem.

The Debian kernel maintainers would prefer some feedback before applying
