have gone here first... Perhaps Neil Brown will have some bright ideas.
Common factors on all three pieces of hardware seeing the problem seem

sorry for the delay. Today i checked channel scanning with ordinary
2.6.32-er kernel, and this is working just fine. Only with xen-kernel it
won't work!

Simply remove extlinux. If one is not using this bootloader, get rid of it for
now. The kernel will now install.
Gets update bootloader warning. Re-run lilo or alternative just to be sure.
