I forgot to say it, I downgraded to initramfs-tools 0.93.4, that is
the one I used to generate the working initrd. But then upgraded to
0.94.2 once 33 was working again, and inspected the file to be sure
mdadm files are still there (yes, they are). And rebooted again to be
sure the initrd work

difference in kernal behavior be related to the fact that the ndiswrapper
module is part of the Mandriva compile process? That module could have
made some ndis code available to their kernel which our's lacks.

I don't think it's fixed in 2.6.32 (I'm using the one from backports)
I have webservers running Apache which reach very very high loads and the
server becomes completely unrensponsive through ssh, althoung ping (for
example) works.
