I tried older kernels to see if I can find starting from which version
powering off my system after suspend to disk stopped working.
2.6.18 and 2.6.22 both powers off the system, 2.6.24 does not.
I couldn't find a Debian 2.6.23 image to try.

yes, I used iptables. I had this experience on debian/etch 4.0 r0 to r3.
Since then I removed debian and am using rhel 4, on which this problem
doesn't occur.
Seems like this problem is debian specific. It hasn't happened on rhel 3 or

the debian-eeepc-devel list, manual 'modprobe pciehp pciehp_force=1
pciehp_slot_with_bus=1'
(or similarly in /etc/modules) will make wifi card power on/off work properly.
