Hi all,
same problem here. Upgrade from 2.6.24 to 2.6.26 makes DVD not usable.
With the 2.6.24-7 the DVD drive was recognized :
dmesg.0:libata version 3.00 loaded.
dmesg.0:ata_piix :00:1f.2: version 2.12
dmesg.0:ata_piix :00:1f.2: MAP [ P0 -- P1 -- ]
dmesg.0:scsi0 : ata_piix
dmesg.0:scsi
According to http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11434 it seems
that even 2.6.26.3 should'nt be considered as reliable without patches
linked there.
I'll try to see if I can rebuild a kernel with those patches included,
test it and report back.
Cheers,

Hi Graham,
I had seen that bug before, but it did not make any sense to me. Now knowing
that various executables of udev could not be found, it does make much more
sense!
If I look at the date, this discussion is very, very recent, so recent that it
is likely that I have not apt-get updated si

Hi all!
I report this against the linux-image package, because I think the
problem is related to the pcspkr module.
I installed Lenny on a 'Dell Laptop Inspiron 1525 Ubuntu 8.04 Edition'.
The sound is configured with 'options s

Correction: I was looking at udev 0.125-7.
Bug 498686 may be of interest here.

It seems that it's related to upstream bug 11434:
http://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11434
I have the same kind of “-22” error.
It's supposed to be fixed in 2.6.26.3 (which, if I trust the
changelog.Debian.gz, is included in linux-image-2.6.26-1-amd64 2.6.26-5)
but it's not fixed on my b

no not yet as we don't use stable uuid for boot device,
that switches the device from /dev/hda to /dev/sda and it
is shown that debian user can't deal with that.
So is it possible to make package with pata_* modules so anyone
interested could simply install it?

Are we meant to be voting? snd-pcsp sounds terrible, I think it should go
away. :)
