I have re-tested this bug on oldest kernel 2.6.18-4, and after recompile
the nvidia-kernel-source for nvidia-glx compatibility, i have
experimented the same freezes of the system.
I can reproduce this bug on 2.6.18-4, 2.6.21-1 and 2

I found a megaraid card today in the hopes that I could reproduce
this problem - unfortunately, I could not. See the log below.
As you can see, my card also has the 101e:1960 pci id.
At POST mine reports itself as:

Well, yesterday I have updated to 2.6.21-6 kernel image from APT (-amd64).
Before update, i have restarted with the new kernel. The first start
gets a blank screen (I supposed it's because the nvidia nonfree driver
isn't recompiled for the kernel).
When i have these problem corrected, i have sta

More SATA device IDs should be added to support sb700 completely,

Debian may fail to be installed on ATI SB700 when set "onchip SATA type"
in BIOS into "AHCI" mode. There are four SATA related device IDs in
SB700:
0x4390, SATA in IDE mode
