A workaround for this is to make sure the driver modules are loaded in
the desired order by putting them in /etc/initramfs-tools/modules.
The "use udev" comment rather misses the point. All reasonably current
installations use udevd, but nothing uses the "stable" /dev/disk
symlink tree by default

I'm obviousely suffering from the problem described at

Some background information: I tried to install several other
distributions on this Compaq ML 530 m
I do not understand why you reassigned this bug to udev.
The correct solution is to use the persistent device names, which have
been available for a very long time.

base-installer seems writing to fstab, but maybe partman should
handle the uuid stuff..
initramfs-tools supports booting to a root by uuid,
latest unstable version fixed an bug concerning the resume partition.
