when the ide-generic driver takes over your IDE device, instead of the

The patch has been committed to the Linus' git tree on 2006-01-31, however
looks like it barely missed the 2.6.16 release. I guess it'll make it into
the 2.6.17.

Similar problem with USB attached DVD player.
Unclear if this is due to boot with DVD player in, or other hardware issues, I
suspect a loose USB cable turned this from annoyance into show stopper. Have
detached USB DVD drive as workaround - seems okay so far.
