I've just switched to tulip from de4x5 on my alpha, and none of the problems
that were present previously appear to persist under 2.4.27-2. So I don't
have any objections to blacklisting de4x5.
OTOH, I also can't find anything in the current kernel-image 2.6.8-2
packages that explains why the de4

I just did notice that the new/old packet writing support doesn't provide
it's own device major
number, namely 97, so the whole stuff is unusable.
Just adding
pkt_major = 97;
after the beginning of int p
dev=ATA and dev=/dev/hdX are definitely not supposed to do the same thing.
Check the cdda2wav(1) man page.

I have no built the daily sid d-i images out of the trunk, without any change,
apart from dropping the generation of the -chrp and co vmlinuz files.
These use 2.4.27 .udebs generated with only two changes : dropping the
-power3/4 packages which where not used anyway, and depending on

After a week or so of work, i finally have the new powerpc 2.4.27 packages
ready and will upload them tomorrow or monday, to be in time for d-i rc3.
They will need NEW processing though, which would be cool if it could be
accelerated, but we will see.
