My experience is exactly the same as the reporter's. APM suspend worked fine in 2.6.8-2, but in 2.6.8-3, it goes to sleep and doesn't wake up. I reproduced by booting init=/bin/sh, loading apm, and suspending. I also boot with acpi=off (because apm won't load otherwise). Andrew
