Hello,
I really need help now.
I am trying to install KDE 2.1.1 on Debian 2.2r3 (Potato).
I can not get it installed. I'm stuck now. Can someone please help?
My Potato is freshly installed on a blank computer. It is all standard from
the official Debian 2.2r3 CD set. It contains the Debian base,
omputers, some of which
have no Internet connection and no kind of network connection.
Is there any way I can make a usable KDE installation CD out of whatever dselect
downloads for my KDE installation?
Thanks for the help so far :o)

packages you need to get off the net, should be done by adding the relevant

I had a rudimentary X setup installed with TWM.
Both my mouse and keyboard worked fine.
Then I
Problem solved!

I did not before the install. But I did after the install.
So I had a look at the GPM man pages and they say that GPM can cause trouble
with X when using a busmouse.
I do not know if a standard PS/2 mouse is a busmouse. (My mouse sits on the

Will this eventually go into unstable, and then into testing and then into
stable (the upcomming 3.0)?
Cheers :o)

If you have gpm running then try to stop it and see if that helps.
As root:
/etc/init.d/gpm stop
