It was at the end of the thread, but anyway here it is again: 1) run genkdmconf as root. 2) cd /usr/share/kde4/apps/kdm/faces/ 3) cp .default.face.icon .default.face 4) set kdm to start to plasma, instead of previous (default), so it will not revert to broken, after that plasma should be default.
