KDE4 with 1 GB RAM ?

Hello, Is anyone here using KDE4 with 1 GB of RAM or less? I have 1 GB on my laptop and I'm finding that by the end of the day, even after I close most apps, the system is swapping like crazy and is just unusable, taking seconds before it reacts to a mouseclick. I have to restart the X server

dear debian-kde list, i just dist-upgraded from etch to squeeze (for some reason) and kde4 is now broken. there is a bug already reported here: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=556468 which seems to match what i've got. with all this, kde seems to still be "usable", meaning i can

Hi, it is a good question wether or not plasma needs to be installed or not.The problem of Plasma is thats its _the_ KDE Desktop Shell. Thus you could (for example) use Fluxbox with KWin as a Window manager. But you will miss out on most of its integration that makes KDE as a hole that good.
