As my system is now totally messed up of trying stuff i did the best
i could to show you the problem
I run sid, Xfree4.1.0-2 and kde2.2-0.3-beta1
So:
adduser foo

foo$ startx
ctrl+alt+backspace
foo$
The only light that I can shed on this is that it works OK on my machine. I
downloaded direct from the Creatures website rather than using the CD, but
the program updates itself when you run it anyway so that won't be the reason.

One question was: Do you run GPM?
I did not before the install. But I did after the install.
So I had a look at the GPM man pages and they say that GPM can cause trouble
with X when using a busmouse.
I do not know if a standard PS/2 mouse is a busmouse. (My mouse sits on the

What you call ugly, others call "Anti-Aliased." Try turning off anti-

Option "sw_cursor"
to the device section in your XF86Config?

I have found that in addition to the problems mentioned in my original post,
left-clicking on a .html file on the desktop will not open it - nothing
happens at all. Right-click and select "Open with Konqueror" and again
nothing happens, but selecting "Open with Quanta" or "Open with StarOffice"
