since kde3 my startkde script is not called anymore

Hi, there: I used to use $HOME/.xsession to execute my environment setup script under KDE 2.2, because apparently .bash_profile is not called at all at startup by kdm. But ever since I switched to KDE3, even .xsession does not work anymore. Does anyone have similar problem or answer to it? Than
