I did manage to get timidity working
o Renamed /etc/timidity/freepats.cfg to timidity.cfg
o Changed paths in timidity.cfg to all .pat files

I had found a midi guide specific to the esssolo1
on-board sound card that I have, but it is written
for alsa and I'm currently using OSS .
