For some reason, on one of my systems, KDM has stopped managing the
local display. I was doing some tinkering - specifically trying to get
GRUB 2 to work and trying to get rid of all the griping about SYSFS{}
by udev during the boot process, when at some point KDM quit bringing
up its spl

I have tried twice, now, to build Debian "Squeeze" systems employing
KDE4, and both have had similar problems. I tried on an old Dell GX250
mini-desktop system back in December, but KDE was so unstable I finally
had to remove it - it kept locking up the PC completely. Once the
