it's trying to install kdebase2.2.2
specifying -t ./ would only work correctly if you've allowed for that in
your apt preferences file
try installing kdebase w/o the -t ./ and see which version is used
why don't you compile it on your faster hardware, and shift it over to the
slower machine for install?

a few packages are needed from sid, libqt3, libqt3-mt to name a few
kamera and kpilot also need deps from sid
but you could easily install them from sid, leaving the rest of your
machine as testing
i wouldn't recommend building any new packages, they're really not needed
if you're running testin
yes, since unstable is marked with a negative priority, you can have
unstable lines in your sources and they won't be used, unless you use
apt-get -t unstable
most of the systems i run are using testing, with what's needed from
unstable for kde3
gphoto2 libglib2.0-0 libqt3 libqt3-mt
since libqt
create a /etc/apt/preferences file, with the contents similar to:
Package: *
Pin: release a=testing
Pin-Priority: 900
Package: *
Pin: release a=unstable
Pin-Priority: -10
just make sure unstable has a negative priority, so no unstable packages
will ever be used by apt without consent

because not all dpkg frontends use suggests, apt-get for example
if the metapackages didn't use depends, then they would be next to useless
in your case, just install the metapackage, then remove kppp and kdenetwork
disable the actions in klipper (the clipboard icon by the clock)
or, if you want the others, go to properties and edit the actions to your
tastes

probably gpm, try
/etc/init.d/gpm stop
if this fixes it, and you don't use the mouse in consoles, remove it with
apt-get remove gpm

i have exactly the same problem, kdelibs3 appeared to remove crypto
apt-get install kdelib3-crypto says that kdelibs >= 2.1.2 is needed
and apt-get install kdelibs3 says the latest version is already installed
