ier-IMAP and DoveCot, you'll want to use maildrop for
server-side filtering. SIEVE, AFAIU, is currently only usable with
Cyrus IMAP servers. I've yet to find any information on using SIEVE
with anything else.
There's lot of information out there on the Courier and P
just any
toolbars. I've had to futz around with the application menu a bit to
move links to where I want them, but never had to touch the toolbars.

Which IMAP server are you connecting to? If it's Dovecot or Courier, you
need to set the "Prefix to Folders" setting for that account to "INBOX".
If it's a Cyrus server, you need to set "altnamespace: yes"
M is not your issue. A slower CPU and a crappy video
setup is. (Not to mention its a Compaq Presario, which guarantees
it'll be dead in 12 months.)
Basic common sense would have come in handy. :)

o gksu (the GTK frontend to su), but it also does not
support changing the timeout of the password storage.
