I haven't tried using XMPS with divx for a while, but about six months ago I didn't have any luck with it. I've been using aviplay compiled from avifile. It's a QT-based app, and works adequately for me. You should be able to get the avifile stuff from avifile.sourceforge.net. It's easy to get

7;m using a version of KDE I've compiled or not - I've tried both .debs and CVS checkouts, and there's no difference. I don't think it has anything to do with the video card, because I had this problem with my G400 Max, and still have it with a GeForce2 MX.
