Hey, Sound doesn't work in railroad tycoon cos it reckons it can't access the sound card... I think its because arts sound daemon is running. Is there a way to stop arts nicely? What the debian policy on which sound server does what and how to stop/start them? dave

I just had this problem and fixed it. Your version of kdebase is probably old. You need to upgrade it. and apt-get distupgrade did it for me. However the same command broke my lilo. So make sure you rerun lilo and check your lilo.conf so you can get back into you system. dave > -Original Mess
