I have solved the problem by using the following shell script (call it
kgz) for the mime type application/x-gzip:

first thanks to Ivan for KDE-2.1 the debian way.
One minor problem (I use potato):
$ studio
studio: error in loading shared libraries: libkdefakes.so.0: cannot
open shared object file: No such file or directory
I think, kdestudio has to recompiled against libkdefakes.so.3.0.0 wh
