KATE crashes frequently when doing regex find/replace

I'm running Debian/Trixie on an AMD64 system. I use regex find/replace a lot. Today KATE crashes almost every time I use one. Fortunately, it is able to recover the modified file I was working on after the crash, so I am able to work.
