There's been a lot of discussion on this list about automounting of removable
devices. I thought this might be interesting:
A while back I discovered pmount, and along with hal and udev on a 2.6.11
kernel, it worked as expected: plug in, icon appears, already mounted, no
fstab entry

I was using testing (etch) and decided to install KDE 3.4.2 from the
Unstable repositry. (I was using GNOME 2.10 from the unstable rep and
dist-upgraded to unstable once then re-pinned to testing..)
Any way, the installation was successful. I login to KDE and after the
selections like

But, after the install, I can not use them with kde nor with gnom
Here also no problems, please be sure to enable the RenderAccel and AllowGLXWithComposite option in xorg.conf/XF86Config
Before I enabled RenderAccel it was unusable slow.
