Reading man apt-get I'm still not sure how to re-install kde. I want the old
info erased, then install --not just updated. (having vague problem with
applications in KDE using ftp to internet ip's.)

If you are using 3.1 or below, add --check (I think) to the command-line when
starting KMail (right-click in the icon->properties if that's what you use).
From 3.2 on (current cvs) it's in the GUI.

I can play cd's using kscd as root (by doing kdesu -c kscd).
When I use the icon on the K-menu, kscd appears in the taskbar, then
disappears quickly. The window never appears. When I try running it from
konsole, I get the following errors:

Unistall gcc, g++, cpp etc.
Install all newest compiler >=3.0 and required packages.
Configure qt with -no-xkb
So, now I compile KDE and waiting for result
