I have found the problem. Thanks to Peter Clarks !
I was using xplanet to generate every five minutes very nice background
(the earth in 3D, with clouds updated every four hours), using the
auto-update function of KDE. Disabling this option corrects the problem.
Now the memory taken by XFree is

i think if you put the following in an executable .xsession file in
your home dir and then choose "default session," you will get the
desired results:
exec /opt/kde2cvs/complete/path/to/startkde

Hello everybody
I am using Debian GNU/Linux with KDE 2.2.2 and XFree 4.1, and I
experience what could be call a memory leak. Here is an extract of the

Have I missed an apt-line that has kio_fish for kde3? If not, I'll just go
ahead and install it from a compile (I'm not a purist when it comes to
putting stuff in /usr, bad me!) but a .deb would be great.
Thanks!

How can I start a kde version that I compiled myself (--prefix=/opt/kde3cvs,
QTDIR=/opt/qt-copy) from kdm as shipped with the unofficial kde 3.0.1 debs?
Just setting KDEDIR, KDEHOME, QTDIR, PATH and LD_LIBRARY_PATH in ~/.profile,

Ciao :)
I was trying to compile the last koffice's release, but
./configure gave me back the error:
kde headers not found :(
Which one package do I download to obtain the kde headers (I'm
running kde 3.0.1 on woody) ?
Does anybody give me some advices ?
bye :)

Could anyone help me to find some more (and better) KDE-sources for use with
apt?
thanx
