Isn't there some neat way of getting /tmp/.ICE-unix to be owned by root?
(Makes logging in to KDE just that bit faster...) Would it maybe then
have to be created at boot time? Maybe optionally, debconf question?

I prepared a set of athlon optimized (actually k6) KDE CVS builds fitting for
usage on a debian system. The installation is in /usr/local/qt and
/usr/local/kde3.
However, I don't have access to a server that can take the anticipated load

Before using KDE, I always used xscreensaver. After switching, I found
that KDE will let me use xscreensaver still. However, when the
screensaver tries to start, or when I click "Lock Screen", the screen
just goes black. I've switched back to WindowMaker and xscreensaver
