I have a suspition that clicking on URLs in Kmail and Knode messages when
konqueror is already running is wasteful WRT the system resources compared to
opening a new window and typing in the URL. The reason I think so is because
it takes so long (3-5 seconds) when I click on a URL in these p

I am using the artsd plugin and have had the same problems...havent since
going to 2.2.2, but its only been a few days.
What seems to be happening is artsd is dyingrestarting artsd and xmms (I
usually killall both anyways, just to be sure) fixes the problem at least
temporaly.

I too had the problem with artsd not starting at startup but it seems to have
fixed itself when I updated my KDE on last Friday the 14th. Not sure what
the problem was but it is gone now for me.
I also figured out my problem with mailto links. I had entered the full path
to kmail in kcontrol-

I made an half solution ... that showed me a way ... maybe ;)
I added a shellcript in $/.kde/Autostart with exec /usr/bin/artsd
options (I dont' remeber which).
I'm in init2 mode and the system start with gdm, so after I made
