hi
Welcome to the world of Linux and dial-up.:-)
Try this as root
route del default

I changed /etc/ppp/options to noauth.
I dial in. The modems seem to connect, but then neither lynx or netscape
can locate the start up page.
This is very discouraging
I changed /etc/ppp/options to noauth.
I dial in. The modems seem to connect, but then neither lynx or netscape

from kdeinit included in kdelibs3_2.1.0.1-0.potat
Hello,
Since you are using debian, you still may wish to give pppconfig a shot. I am
using now for my machine and use the 'demand dialing'. All I do is run pon
after I boot up the box. This sets up pppd to automatically log onto my ISP
whenever I need outside routing. It hangs up the line
It works! I've changed the first occurence in the file /etc/ppp/options of
"auth" into "noauth" and it is all OK.
Thank you for your invaluable suggestions

I've read all the extremely poor and distressing pieces of "Documentation"
about i810 both under the various /usr/doc and www.debian.org/br
This information here is somewhat dated, but maybe it will
give you a clue. Your symptoms sound quite famaliar, and
are very similar to a common complaint in Corel Linux when
it came out. Corel Linux used KPPP as its default dialer.
The problem is in the way KPPP and the default pppd program

run "kdm -debug 1" and look where your system logs the daemon facility.

It's been a long time since I even bothered with kppp. I sometimes
need to bring ppp up or down from a login from another box, so I'm
accustomed to using pon and pof
The local computer store got the ISP script by using hyper-terminal in
windows. (the ISP refused). I have the login,
Now the pppd deamon dies. there is a reference to a www.kde.org/~kppp.html
page which does not exist. and a general error message.
To get kppp to work I gave permissions out wholesa
