Yeah.. but Maven does not do all the nice integration like executable
in /usr/bin, desktop icons, version upgrade notification and so on.
Packaging the applications is still the way to go as far as I
understand to get it to the end user in a seamless way.

versions of a library is sometimes necessary but should be limited to
where it is necessary.

version (or most secure one or whatever.. how would you select anyway).

We solved this by installing to /usr/share/- where slot is
roughly the ABI (we increase it every time a new version breaks
something using
rallel? How do you handle man pages and all sorts
of stuff like that (e.g. executable in /usr/bin has version number in
command?)

It's not mandatory to install man pages on Gentoo but of course helpful
for users. The thing is that besides the JDK itself I haven't see Java
appli

Maybe Maven central could get another public section exposed by the
infrastructure that only contains Debian approved artifact

list of "debian" approved/included dependencies even that might be
possible. Certainly something to be considered as a second step once
the creation
