Indeed, success! I used the startup script at http://sablevm.org/wiki/Eclipse
Will take a look at it in more detail tomorrow to see what is needed to

As mentioned previously, I had some minor issues getting eclipse3 to run
on my system (I'm running unstable). I've made a few minor changes to
get the package built and working.
