Balancing jar size vs. simplicity of the solution, I'd definitely vote for
simplicity: priceless, for everything else there is cheap disk space and
bandwidth!

did anybody here succeed on running a Jenkins Build Slave on kFreeBSD?
Using the SSH Slave Plugin on the master (running Wheezy's OpenJDK) and
gcj-4.7 on the Sid kFreeBSD I get:
