I have been supplied with a 3com homeconnect dual link adsl modem by my isp. Does
anybody know of any Debian (or other Linux distros) to control this rotten equipment.
I only received software for winblows and I really, really don't want to have

Hey

Although that particular error message and your
question are about as vague as one can get in regards to Perl and web scripting,
your problem most likely is that you didn't print out the header information
before returning any other value. Throw the following in your code somewh

ADSL modem use either pppoe or dhcp. Since your ISP
gives you a software package, I assume it is pppoe.
My rule of thumb is as follows:
1. PPPoE if a username/password pair is required to login.
2. DHCP if no software/no login is required to use the
service.

The problem is that the ISP is using PPPoA, as in PPP over ATM.

Ah, I guess this 3com-stuff comes in form of a PCI-card which connects
directly to the copper-wire, then?
(btw: PPPoA stands for PPP over AAL5, not ATM. That´s a rather ps

Has a pre-patched 2.2.18 kernel, but also includes images of boot, root, and

I am not sure if there is a deb pkg for "iptraf" or not, but I would

I would suggest snort http://www.snort.org/ as an IDS.

Well, it's strange, because pinging the box gives a different log
entry in syslog (something to the effect of icmplogd: ping from
somehost.com), whereas these are different.
I don't run any sort of IDS or network monitor. Do you have any suggestions?

Hello -
Is there good method or a good application for logging top (or similar)
information? We'd like to capture all such information for historical
performance monitoring, but top is not very capture-friendly.
Thanks for any help. Currently running slink.

Yes, friendly, but it doesn't break down information by processes. We
would like to know what is eating our memory/cpu and what processes
aren't getting what they need.
