Ok, I'm not sure about it but I think you must use something like:
append = "ether=0,0,12,eth0"
see HOWTO/BootPrompt for more details.

ifconfig may be able to lock the speed when you
setup the eth0 interface.
Networks do not run at 100BaseT though, it's the
individual links that can run at whatever speed - are you saying that the link
light on your stack from the 3c905b card is only showing 10BaseT?
