I have a Compaq DL380 with a Smart Array 5i controller.
This machine doesn't seem to be happy with the "compact" boot disks (in
potato). The thing boots up but doesn't "see" the disks. I have installed
Debian on other Compaq machines before and have had to use the compact root
and rescue boot

I have been supplied with a 3com homeconnect dual link adsl modem by my isp. Does
anybody know of any Debian (or other Linux distros) to control this rotten equipment.
I only received software for winblows and I really, really don't want to have to
install that rotten OS on any of my machi

ie users can "see" the entire drive structure when connecting via ssh but
if they connect via ftp their relevent "home" directory becomes the root.
