apt-get install pam-ldap, or sth like that,
and then switch to ldap authentication using /etc/pam.d/* files..
i tried it, it works like a charm. it even supports md5 hashing,
and i like it.

Debian is using LDAP to authenticate users but I couldnt realize how it's
done.
