Does anyone know if there is a good database around for
keeping track of IP addresses? I now use the reverse
dns for this, but it doesn't give me any overview of
VLANs, nor does it tell me if we are running out of
space in a range.
Preferably a tool under Debian, but payware is fine

I am working on a bourne script that can restart services if they hang.
If the process does not respond, I want to kill and restart it, but I
haven't found a good way to locate it's process ID from the ps output.
And not all processes use a /var/run/.pid. With the commands
