I can mail on my local host but cannot mail using netscape mail. I
want to use my server as a remote smtp server and the pop3 mail server.
When I try to send something using netscape, it says that I cannot
connect to it. I can telnet to port 25 on the server and it says:
220 netasolnetworks.com
Following the recent flurry here, I couldn't resist using that subject
line.
I have hosted a Debian (Hamm!) box with an ISP in Britain for two
years to run apache, sendmail and listar and do a few other things.
I do this 'cos my multiple (if prestigious and interesting!) jobs
create conflicts

Thank you for the explanation, I now have a much better understanding of how
Apache works. After a bit more digging around on the web I also found this
discussion thread with some responses from Rasmus Lerdorf (regarding php3
and a few years old, but it still seems to be relevant).
