In my experience it is almost that robust.

It appears some packages in the Debian archive have wrong dependencies
because they were built w/o the shlibdeps patch.
To name some I tried to use:
man-db: libdb4.0
groff: libstdc++
dselect: libstdc++
xpdf: libstdc++, libpaper1
tetex-bin: libstdc++, libpng3, ...
Many packages still depend on lib

libdb4.0 wold be probably better than libdb3
If nothing changed man-db is linked with it but does not have it in Depends

Libperl could be updated to libperl5.8 if libdb4.0 was included

It appears localedef locks /usr/lib/locale/locale-archive the first time it
runs but never unlocks it.
ii libc0.32.3.1-5

afaik it
I think this makes pam buildable under the Hurd. I do not know if I did
something stupid and I do not use the affected modules myself.
Could anybody look at it or even test it?
Thanks

I see.
This should be better:

Can anybody try this, please ?
I think I do not have any database to check db_dump185.

Because pc_kbd does not work with oskit I tried to run console w/o
keyboard support and connect
It fails to start on oskit-mach (the deb packaged).
It says vga driver failed to initialize.

There is no longer gcc-3.1 for the Hurd. Isn't this the time for
gcc-defaults to be updated?
I have compiled a modified gcc-defaults for my machine bacause it was easier
than creating all the packages manually.

But the readme does not seem updated ;-)

How do you make correct library dependencies?
I edit file lists to include libraries found in /lib but I'd like
something automagical. Any hint where I should look?
I tried to read the dpkg manuals and search some packaging guide but found
nothing I could use.
