Ah, that's it! I'll use this then:
diff -ru sbuild-0.35.orig/sbuild sbuild-0.35/sbuild
--- sbuild-0.35.orig/sbuild 2005-03-31 18:42:48.0

Didn't Jeff fix this already? CC'ing Jeff to be sure he reads
this...
Adding support for ld.so.conf on Debian GNU/Hurd is not a fix.
Infact, that patch

Hello.
While compiling stuff I noticed that there are a lot of packages
(at least 72 by my count) which fail because of X related linking
errors. A simple example is the xwatch package. This is the error:
[...]
cc -o xwatch xwatch.o usage.o ui.o parsegag.o xmalloc.o xrealloc.o xstrdup.o

eth0: SiS 900 PCI Fast Ethernet at 0xcc00, IRQ 177, 00:0a:e6:90:98:11
Unfortunately, like I mentioned, I was not able to find debian/rules

I tried devprobe, and it didn't report anything. Also, here is the
output of klog (I tried to host it, but I couldn't so I'm pasting the
whole text, but it's a bit long):

Hello,
you can also check if eth0 exists by typing:
devprobe eth0

Hi, I recently installed Debian GNU/Hurd using the install guide from
web.walfield.org, and www.debian.org, but have encountered some
difficulty with setting up the network.
I'm currently running Debian (GNU/Linux) unstable w/ Grub, and so
added the install commands to Grub's menu before rebooting
