You could of course also do something like
"/etc/init.d/console-client stop" in the console client...
You mean, deco stop console-client. :-)
I suppose that could work, sending SIGTERM or some such.

I'd like to see the console-client fixed so that it not blank the
screen etc., until there is at least one tty setup.
A better solution is to actually fix console-client to just show what
was on the screen before (and as such, allow for messages from the
Mach console to be shown). But this

The GNU/kFreeBSD port no longer depends on libsem (as it switched to
linuxthreads) and I'm told the GNU/Hurd port will soon switch to NPTL, so it
won't need libsem either.
