For those of you with text only email and such, I apologize for
the binary posts. As Mr. Morrison requested, I have put the
new and improved banner online. Feel free to download it.
Grumble... my whole geocites site has vanished without a
trace. Here is a link to my new page which currently has

Sorry, I found it surfing for "wildebeasts" and found some website
with scenes from the African plains. I distorted the original and
so I don't have it anymore and I can't remember what website
it was.
To make this, I kind of traced the general outlines of my already
modified copy on a new layer, t
Hi, I'm curious to see this picture, is it up on a website anywhere?

Aww, shucks. I decided to make an update before I go.
Here is one with a more pronounced "G" in GNU.
Sorry about the binary post, I kept the image under 10k
like all good banners should be.

Certainly, but it will be different, I won't be able to exactly duplicate
the polar gradient and plasma effects, but I'll give it a whirl. I'll post
something next week. I'm done for tonight and the wife and I are off
for holiday until Monday. Cheers!

Nice! Can you make the G more like a G and
Several months ago I made a Hurd banner from a real photo which was very
cool, but had to retract it as the photographer wanted a royalty to use it.
So now, I have artistically created my own banner, similar to the other one,

Ah, I see.
Well, I did not make any modifications or tweaks whatsoever
to oskit-mach. I grabbed it from CVS yesterday, and did this:
$ cd oskit-mach
$ mkdir build
$ cd build
$ ../configure
$ make
$ cp kernel /boot
Thats the extent of it.
Here is my hardware configuration FYI

No I'm talking about OSKit-Mach, not about OSKit. The OSKit debian
package should be fine (at least if you used a recent one,
i.e. 0.9
I'm just using the oskit in the Hurd deb package. However they
compiled it is how I have it.

Hi
I have installed Debian GNU/Hurd version G1.
After some problem, Xfree is running.
But now, I have a problème with xterm. Xterm run properly with root id
but don't run with a user id.
Here, you can look at some traces :
hurd:~# echo $LD_LIBRARY_PATH
/X11R6/lib:/opt/gnu/gcc/lib:/root/soft/q
How do I create an ext2 floppy? How do I mount it?

How do I point to nameservers? I created /etc/resolv.conf but
that is not doing the trick. I can ping the nameservers I ususally use; but
they are not being accessed for name translation.

Netcraft don't nmap the webservers, though. They only analyze the
packets they receive from a GET /, or more likely HEAD /.
I got some suggestions from Richard Wendland at netcraft. If you want
