oduce that if the test code is linked with -static.
So this now seems to be almost fixed, but not quite in every path ...

I don't really expect this to work in compliant code, so I won't object
if you wontfix or close it, but it surprised me enough to look and point
included below - I'm not sure
offhand exactly how the libc restart logic is coded, but at first blush
I'd note the new openssh-server is unpacked but not set up at the time
the libc service restart takes place ...

If it's any help to narrow this one down, the same test code using
fprintf or vprintf in place of printf does not deadlock and works
as expected...

but when the increase is gratuitous rather
than functional, the quality of Debian as a whole for that person is
likewise reduced.
Creeping bloat is like cancer. It can be damn hard to get rid of once
it sets in.

IMHO it is right to close this bug. (and discussion of the reasons
you think it is a bug and implications of 'fixing' it the way you
suggest probably belong elsewhere, reply to me privately or move
this to -devel, but I really have nothing more to add.)
best,
Ron.
This is probably caused by Debian bug #662990 (in policycoreutils),
assuming you're running selinux. Unfortunately, while they fixed that
bug a couple of months ago, the upgraded package hasn't made it into
testing yet.
As a workaround, comment out line 32 of /var/lib/dpkg/info/tzdata.postinst
