This has something to do with the auto-libgc transition? what possible
workarounds do I have? Because of this I can't install a number of apps
depending on libgcc (mongo, node, etc).

The file which does exist in my system is not called
/usr/share/info/iostream-2.95.info.gz
but instead:
/usr/share/info/iostream-295.info.gz
(no dot between "2" and "95").
I made a symlink from one to the other and it did the trick.
