Part of the problem with /etc/mtab is that mount is hardcoded to use that
location,
and there is no way to configure it to use a different location without
recompiling

On my setup here dmesg does not show anything. It even does not show anything
from interest on dbus (using dbus-monitor). But konqueror does show the correct
file system
