If you only want to change font setting for GTK2 apps, try adding
line:
gtk-font-name = "Verdana 10"
Or any other font available for X in scheme
gtk-font-name = "face size"

HUGE (Helvetica, 12px, or something), while I have set the font to be
Verdana,
