Hi Marco,
I can imagine notes as decorative elements, but I wouldn't use it as a
very important element because many people wouldn't know why there are
notes. Many people for sure don't know Toy Story and lack the knowledge
that Debians release names are referring to characters in it...

Please don't change it any more! It's great as it is.

Of course I could change the colours to variations of blue (and red),
but its risky without any further explanation:

What do you think?

Hi Stefano,
thank you for the explanation. In my opinion it was important an helps a
lot to limit frustration.
Unfortionally it looks like I joined the desktop list just to late. I
didn't learn that there was nobody caring for the voting process until
Paul stepped in.
I joined the desktop-list b
The problem might be the process.
Last time there where loads of proposals, but a very awkward selection
mode. I guess I'm not the only one frustrated by it.
So there would be loads of not yet used proposals left, if we want to go
for something new:

I know you didn't ask me, but I still tell, what I think:

Back then it was very different.
Nowadays we have an abundance of free tools and resources.

submit work created with free software. Only this way we can truly argue
that we do not depend on proprietary tools. There is no need for a
compromise any more. We should consciously celebrate this achievement.

But this was not what I was talking about.
Politically it makes a big difference if

Anyway, I am obviously arguing for a minority view around here.
Therefore it doesn't seem to make any more sense to explain it over and
over again. I hope this is not an indicator for Debian drifting down a
slippery slope I would rather want to avoid.
All the best to all of you,

If the Debian project uses artwork from proprietary tools it is doing
the opposite.

Only if we don't mind.
You can use this reasoning to throw out ethical arguments in principle.

I don't really know why this is discussed here but I will add my two
cents to it also because it is.
I stuck with Debian even if the FSF (which I am a supporter of) doesn't
endorse it for the reason that it provides non-free options on its
servers. The important thing for me is that Debian stays f
