I notice posts on this list [which I read by nntp from

name should be in chinese. But debian in
english mean "People that belong to Deb package System"
so ... I may mind of chinese name for debian will be
closer to something like
"特件人" as a Special Package People :)

为的是是宣传方便, 好念好听好记.
其他一些 distro 的名称是有较为明确的涵义的, 比如:
RedHat -- 红帽
Mandrake -- 曼德拉草
Slackware -- 散件?
而 Debian 一词本来就是生造出来的,
当新手看到 Debian 时都会问: 这个名字是什么意思啊?
甚至有不友好的人士索性称之为 "Da Bian".
按照音译, 我觉得 "德比安" 比较合适, 至少听一来很响亮.
不知大家以为如何? 或许还有更好的建议.
