with debian-cd to make the images myself (which wouldn't carry the

I'd be glad to help out with the investigation and testing. I can provide
a testbed for dual-layer DVD+R (and I can tell you that the currently
released 4.7GB DVD images boot nicely).

Jigdo does exactly what you describe. It assembles the DVD or CD images
from the files on the mirror
I understand that there are some updates underway for the build system,
but will there be new sarge images generated this week?
