How can I know about the percentage of files jigdo has already
downloaded? The filenames wget is printing on the screen seem to be
randomly spread among the contents of the the woody-i386-1_NONUS.jigdo
file. Exactly in what order does jigdo download the individual files?

Aha, check the .iso.list file instead of the .jigdo file...
And the order of the files in the .iso.list file is determined from
the .template file right?

I generally just get the first CD. Things I don't find there will be
loaded directly from the net. With apt-get this is really easy.

Yes indeed, since it checksums each file after download and compares
the result to the checksum in the .jigdo file.
